DC: Things to do

Objet : dc
hi franck - a few days should be enough to see some of dc. i imagine you will want to do the usual touristy stuff (the mall where all the museums, capital building, washington monument are). the monuments (lincoln, vietnam, etc) are very nice to visit, esp at night when they are lit up.

when you are visiting the mall, there are lots of good restaurants nearby in chinatown - rosa mexicana (mexican) and rasikas (indian) are my two favorite. jaleo's (spanish tapas) and zytinya (middle eastern tapas) are also quite good.

for nice neighborhoods - georgetown is probably the best to wander - it's mostly shopping, cafe's etc.

you can also wander around Dupont circle/U st/adam's morgan - these are the areas where people really live and not as touristy.

in dupont, the tabard inn is really nice for a glass of wine or tea.

in U street area there are some nice restaurants and funky shops (btw 18-11th st on U st) - there is a great, very authentic ethiopian restaurant called Dukem (U and 13th i think). also lots of jazz bars/restaurants (used to be the center of jazz in the us i think). marvin's is nice for a martini (on 14th btw U and V st). At W st btw 14-15 sts is my favorite park - on a nice day the fountains are going and there are drummers and musicians. when it's cold it's not worth going.

in adam's morgan (18th st btw U and Columbia Rd) there are also lots of restaurants and bars - on the weekends the streets are packed. it's a younger area, so cheap drinks mostly. there are also several good ethiopian restaurants. meze and rumba cafe are my favorite to go out, but i don't think the food is particularly good at either of them. however, if you want to sit outside and have a drink, it's the best place for that.

hotels - i'm not so great at this - my dad always stays at the kimpton hotels (there are several in the city) when he is in town for work and they are super funky and usually reasonable. the tabard inn in dupont is also really nice - B&B rustic style.

happy to put you in touch with some friends there if you want company.

Best, Briera

Memphis Musical

folie...
